Crank the motor while decompressed and you should get spurts of fuel at the joint. Tighten joint and repeat procedure at the injector pipe joint, tighten this and crank till you hear the injector creak indicating that you have injection occurring. Will assume there is a clean filter in place and free of air locks.

Most pumps have a timing mark on the side of the window to show the start of injection. This is a point after the spill point and is the actual position that fuel is discharged from the injector. Check the engine manufacturers instructions. Some may use the window timing marks and others the spill timing method. Hugh.

Yes I have the CS Lister bug.. I have a older 6-1 with a 3kw gen head.. A 28-2 that pulls my 10 ton oil seed press. A 15-1 pulling a 12kw gen head.. 24-2 pulling a 10kw gen head. and a 12-2 slow speed but not built up yet. Shortly after the EPA threw the Listeroids under the bus,, it seemed that most all Lister lovers went into hiding.

The CS series were lower revving industrial engines with external valve pushrods, usually with twin flywheels and never had a marine variant unlike the JP's. The CS 10/2 @ 600 rpm engine was uprated to 650 rpm and became the 12/2 during the '50's. It was finally uprated to 800 rpm and renamed the 16/2 in 1962.
